The Sunday Post - Writing Groups

Writing groups have the potential to be utter disasters or the blessed light shining down from above. I'm lucky enough to have a writing group that is supportive and always willing to dish out great ideas and insight. We try to meet once a month and give pieces up to a certain word count. However, scheduling does make this difficult. Life always has more planned for us than we have on our calendars. We are finally meeting today (probably the first time in over a month and a half). It is no one's fault, like I said, life has curveballs to throw on occasion.

I always look forward to meeting with my writing group. They always have interesting stories to bring to the table that I love reading. One of my writing group members has her own blog that I encourage you to visit. It is called WORDSMITHING AIN'T EASY. Our group, today, is going to be going over a couple of short stories, and I plan on doing some serious brainstorming for a potential novel that I want to try and write alongside the short story series I am writing call The Colliding Empires series.

What do you think of writing groups? What kinds of experiences have you had with them. I'd like to hear. Feel free to give your responses in the comments. I think a lot of people could learn from your experiences in starting or participating in their own writing groups. Thanks!

I wanted to show these to anyone who hasn't seen them yet. This is a great video series with some awesome information for writers. And, of course, it features Patrick Rothfuss, one of my all-time favorite authors (and of course his epic beard). I bow down to the bearded one. . .all right. Let's get this show on the road -- onward, to glory!!!

A Chosen Path in the Editing Stage

A CHOSEN PATH, the second installment of the Colliding Empires Short Story Series, is now officially in the editing phase. I hope to get some feedback from my writing group in the next couple of weeks, and I have been sifting through it on my own to find those nasty little grammatical errors that crop up when the first draft is done. I hope to have it published on Amazon in 2 to 3 weeks. I would like to thank Jeffrey Kosh for his covers. He will be providing me with the covers for all ten of the short stories that I plan to publish for this series. If you are an author and are looking for covers that easily fit into your budget, I would suggest giving his web page a quick look. Thanks everyone!

A Bit of Reevaluation

I know it's been a while since my last post, but I figured I might as well throw out some updates. Anyone who has been following along should probably want to know that the first five short stories of the Colliding Empires have been released into a single file called "Volume 1."

Another thing that is probably the most notable is the fact that I haven't written a post since back in December. I've quite noticeably been derailed in both my blogging and my writing. I haven't done much writing at all. I apologize for that, but it is also one of my cycles that I definitely need to change.

The second, and most recent development, is that I've decided to remove myself from Twitter and delete my Facebook page. I felt that most of what was being put out to the internet on those media channels were shameless self-promotion. That isn't really what I wanted those to become. I don't like the idea of hitting people over the head with that message. And, to be qui…
