The Power of Positive Thinking

I know you can't do this while reading, but ... close your eyes and think back to a time when you were most at peace. What was it about that time that made you feel completely at ease? Were you with loved ones? Friends? Were you alone, doing a task that you loved? Whatever it was, keep that memory close to the surface. It can help you in the worst of times. I have a few memories that bring that feeling of complete ease, of happiness bubbling to the surface, and it doesn't matter what mood I'm in. If I can recall that memory, I immediately feel better. It may not come all at once, but as soon as I summon one of those memories up, I can feel the stress and depression begin to fade.

It's not some magic spell or some hype that I'm getting ready to throw a price onto. It's a simple method of remembering happy times, a tool to use when life is battering at your will or making your emotions do a swan dive. Just remember that you have had happier times, and those times will come again. The first step is getting your mind in the right place. Recalling that memory is nudge in the right direction. You know that old saying, "What comes around goes around," well, it's not completely right or wrong. It is more like, "Happy thoughts bring happy actions." Keep a positive attitude and things will swing back your way. Yes, it is difficult to keep your attitude eternally happy, but when you catch yourself slipping into negativity, just STOP. Reassess what your thinking, and fill your head with positive, happy, and hopefully thoughts. It may not come flooding back to you tomorrow or next week, but it will come back to you. Just keep steadfast, keep your attitude in a good place, and you will reap the rewards.
