The Power of Positive Thinking

I know you can't do this while reading, but ... close your eyes and think back to a time when you were most at peace. What was it about that time that made you feel completely at ease? Were you with loved ones? Friends? Were you alone, doing a task that you loved? Whatever it was, keep that memory close to the surface. It can help you in the worst of times. I have a few memories that bring that feeling of complete ease, of happiness bubbling to the surface, and it doesn't matter what mood I'm in. If I can recall that memory, I immediately feel better. It may not come all at once, but as soon as I summon one of those memories up, I can feel the stress and depression begin to fade.

It's not some magic spell or some hype that I'm getting ready to throw a price onto. It's a simple method of remembering happy times, a tool to use when life is battering at your will or making your emotions do a swan dive. Just remember that you have had happier times, and those times will come again. The first step is getting your mind in the right place. Recalling that memory is nudge in the right direction. You know that old saying, "What comes around goes around," well, it's not completely right or wrong. It is more like, "Happy thoughts bring happy actions." Keep a positive attitude and things will swing back your way. Yes, it is difficult to keep your attitude eternally happy, but when you catch yourself slipping into negativity, just STOP. Reassess what your thinking, and fill your head with positive, happy, and hopefully thoughts. It may not come flooding back to you tomorrow or next week, but it will come back to you. Just keep steadfast, keep your attitude in a good place, and you will reap the rewards.

I wanted to show these to anyone who hasn't seen them yet. This is a great video series with some awesome information for writers. And, of course, it features Patrick Rothfuss, one of my all-time favorite authors (and of course his epic beard). I bow down to the bearded one. . .all right. Let's get this show on the road -- onward, to glory!!!

A Chosen Path in the Editing Stage

A CHOSEN PATH, the second installment of the Colliding Empires Short Story Series, is now officially in the editing phase. I hope to get some feedback from my writing group in the next couple of weeks, and I have been sifting through it on my own to find those nasty little grammatical errors that crop up when the first draft is done. I hope to have it published on Amazon in 2 to 3 weeks. I would like to thank Jeffrey Kosh for his covers. He will be providing me with the covers for all ten of the short stories that I plan to publish for this series. If you are an author and are looking for covers that easily fit into your budget, I would suggest giving his web page a quick look. Thanks everyone!

A Bit of Reevaluation

I know it's been a while since my last post, but I figured I might as well throw out some updates. Anyone who has been following along should probably want to know that the first five short stories of the Colliding Empires have been released into a single file called "Volume 1."

Another thing that is probably the most notable is the fact that I haven't written a post since back in December. I've quite noticeably been derailed in both my blogging and my writing. I haven't done much writing at all. I apologize for that, but it is also one of my cycles that I definitely need to change.

The second, and most recent development, is that I've decided to remove myself from Twitter and delete my Facebook page. I felt that most of what was being put out to the internet on those media channels were shameless self-promotion. That isn't really what I wanted those to become. I don't like the idea of hitting people over the head with that message. And, to be qui…
